Advisory Period will be held during flex (middle school: 10:58 - 11:37 am | high school: 10:28 - 11:07 am) and is required for all middle and high school students. All grades meet on Mondays. Students will have the same Advisor (classroom teacher) each week.
Curriculum, advising and activities will be planned each week to support readiness for post-secondary aspirations and to maintain a positive rapport with staff members.
These may include:
- Academic & Career Planning activities (helping students explore their unique strengths and interests to plan for their future)
- Xello (an online tool used for Academic & Career Planning)
- Post-secondary and Career Exploration (learning about careers and industries students may work in someday)
- Digital Citizenship Curriculum (teaching students how to be safe and appropriate online)
- Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) (goal-setting based on academic performance)
- Conferencing with students on class progress
- ACT Prep (ACT is the state test for 11th grade.)
- Course Selection & Registration for the next school
- Reinforcement of school-wide behavior, safety and academic expectations for students
