Dr. Kellie Sanders became the Chief Academic Officer of the School District of New Berlin in July 2016 after 25 years in education in Illinois. Kellie came to New Berlin from Oswego School District where she was the Director of Professional Development and Training. Before moving to the Oswego School District, Kellie was an elementary principal for 10 years and a middle school teacher and assistant principal for a total of 12 years. Dr. Sanders earned her bachelors of arts in Health Education from Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb, IL, where she was also an athletic trainer. She received her master's in educational leadership from Northern Illinois University and her doctorate degree in 2008 from Aurora University in Aurora, IL.
Dr. Sanders has presented at regional and national conferences in the areas of leadership development, professional learning communities, building leadership capacity, cultural competencies, equity, social justice and social emotional learning. She has also co-written two books entitled The Courage to Lead: Choosing the Road Less Traveled and The Courage to Grow: Leading with Intentionality.
Kellie is very interested in assuring that all students in the School District of New Berlin are College and Career Ready. She works collaboratively with teachers and administrators to assure that students are given every opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge skills and dispositions to achieve their goals for their future.
Kellie enjoys golfing, reading, hiking and spending time with family and friends when she is not focused on improving the educational environment in the SDNB.
