Program Objectives and Eligibility
The TechKNOW Student Helpdesk Program is a student-centered technology support program developed to provide students with an opportunity to develop the skills necessary to provide high-quality technology support in an enterprise environment. This program is available to students in grades 7-12 with an interest in technology.
Enrollment in the SDNB Internship Program
The TechKNOW program is not a course and there is no assigned teacher. It is currently structured as an internship within the School District of New Berlin (SDNB) Career and Service Learning (CSL) Program. Students will be working with SDNB Technology Department staff to support Digital Learning throughout the district.
Students will provide support for hardware and applications, assist with finding technology-based solutions and utilize both existing and emerging technologies to solve problems for students and staff. Staff from the SDNB technology department will provide the training required to perform these duties.
This program requires that students set aside 1 or 2 blocks in their schedule. Students with an interest should contact their counselor to ensure they have room in their schedule.
Industry Certifications
Students in the TechKNOW program also have the opportunity to work toward industry-standard technology certifications that provide important knowledge and skills relevant to post-secondary education and work opportunities. Specifically,
Industry Mentorship, Post-secondary Education
Students enrolled in this program may have an opportunity to interact with industry mentors from our local business partners. Students will also be provided with opportunities to visit a number of different companies and post-secondary education providers throughout the year to inform their Academic and Career Plans.
