The School District of New Berlin values student engagement in the community in addition to the learning in their classrooms. When students participate in community service, they experience an increased sense of self-efficacy, make greater scholastic progress in high school, are more likely to engage in networking opportunities that may benefit them in future endeavors, and are more likely to be civically engaged in their communities post graduation.
Service learning is a life-ready indicator as part of the School District of New Berlin's College and Career Ready Framework. Students can independently earn hours, which are tracked in Xello, to meet this benchmark, or they can participate in Service Learning, detailed below, through the Career and Service Based Learning program.
