To gradually release responsibility to students who will soon be making huge decisions about their career, finances and life, the School District of New Berlin has Open Campus privileges for juniors and seniors who meet specific criteria.
Open Campus is for students who exhibit a high level of maturity and personal responsibility. It allows them to leave during their lunch, study hall or flex time (with a few exceptions during "closed" flex time days). Students may also pursue any legitimate activity on campus during a free period as long as the student is not distracting others. Students will respect the rights of others, particularly in the library, corridors, outdoor areas adjacent to classroom buildings, and the gymnasium. Parking lots and driveways are off-limits unless a student is arriving on campus or leaving campus. Failure to meet expectations will result in the student losing this privilege.
