Poplar Creek Elementary School piloted "Jump Into Your Future" Day in 2014-15 to give elementary students in grades kindergarten to 6th a career exploration experience. The program expanded in 2015-16 to all four elementary schools, with partnership assistance from Junior Achievement of Wisconsin.
Volunteers, including many parents, "show and tell" their students about their occupations. One school, for example, hosted 22 highly engaged presenters, including a fighter pilot, chefs, a surgical nurse, a vet, construction workers, a firefighter, a truck driver, an art designer for Disney and Star Wars, and many more.
The "Jump Into Your Future" program is a component of the School District of New Berlin's Career and Technical Education Foundations and Academic and Career Planning, which also includes JA BizTown in fifth grade.
