College in High School (CIHS) programming is just one of many ways to get more out of a student’s four years of high school. In the School District of New Berlin, we encourage all students to complete a college level experience during high school in alignment with their post-secondary plans. This allows us to ensure students have the support they need DURING high school so that they can be successful in college level coursework AFTER high school. “College level” experiences can take many forms to meet the needs of each student.
Students who demonstrate success in college level coursework have the opportunity to continue to earn additional credits towards a post-secondary education credential based on their academic and career plan. This looks different for every student and there are some key decision points to be aware of. Please refer to the College In High School - Progression Chart for an overview.
Your student’s counselor can help map out a plan that best supports their personal, academic, social and career goals. When planned out correctly, taking advantage of college level coursework in high school will allow students to “Accomplish More In 4” years of high school than otherwise possible.
Please review the linked flyer as well as the resources available on this page to better understand how to "Accomplish More in 4".
